Ordering and Made-to-Order Pieces

Do you have Ready Made pieces?

Most of our rings and bands are made to order, in the metal, stones and finger size you choose. Each product page shows an estimated completion time: typically 2–3 weeks, or typically 3–4 weeks for engagement rings and custom designs. Our Ready Made pieces ship in 1–2 business days or can be picked up right away.

Can I change a design?

Yes. Fewer stones, a different width, another setting style: use "Ask About a Change" on the product page, or come in, and we'll quote it.

Can I return a piece?

Ready Made pieces can be returned within 30 days in their original condition. Made for You pieces (made to order, custom or engraved) are made for you, so they are final sale; if something is wrong with how we made it, our warranty covers it. Please ask us anything you're unsure about before ordering. See our Refund Policy for the details.

Why do prices change?

Our prices follow the gold, platinum and diamond markets. The price at checkout is the price you pay.

Metals

What's the difference between 10k, 14k and 18k gold?

The number is how much pure gold is in the metal: 10k is 41.7%, 14k is 58.5% and 18k is 75%. Lower karat is harder-wearing and more affordable; higher karat has a richer color and is a little softer. 14k is the most popular choice for rings worn every day.

Does your white gold need rhodium plating?

No. We use a bright white gold that is white all the way through, so it doesn't need rhodium plating to stay white.

Is platinum better than white gold?

Platinum is naturally white, about 95% pure and heavier than gold. It develops a soft satin patina with wear, which can be polished away. It costs more than white gold; both are excellent choices.

What is Continuum silver?

Continuum is a sterling silver alloy that is harder and more tarnish-resistant than traditional sterling silver.

Diamonds

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. Lab-grown and natural diamonds are the same crystal, with the same hardness and sparkle. Lab-grown diamonds are created in a lab instead of mined, and cost much less for the same size and quality.

What do the color and clarity grades mean?

Color runs from D (colorless) down the alphabet; F–H is near colorless. Clarity describes tiny natural features inside the stone; VS (very slightly included) and SI1 (slightly included) have no inclusions visible to the eye in normal wear. Each diamond choice on our product pages names its grades.

Do your diamonds come with certificates?

Larger center diamonds come with a grading report (for example from IGI or GIA), and we're happy to show it to you. Small accent and band diamonds are not individually certified; that's standard across the industry.

What does "ctw" mean?

Carat total weight: the combined weight of all the diamonds in a piece. It is approximate, and on bands made in each finger size it changes slightly with the size.

Sizing

How do I find my ring size?

The best way is a professional sizing. Visit us and we'll measure you, or ask us for a ring sizer. Fingers change with temperature and time of day, so measure more than once if you can.

Can my ring be resized later?

Most rings can be resized within a size or two. Rings with stones set far around the band have limits, so ask us before ordering if you're unsure.

Can an eternity band be resized?

Usually not. With diamonds set all the way around, an eternity band can't be resized the usual way. If it needs a different size, it usually has to be made again, at a cost. Please have your finger sized precisely before ordering an eternity band.

Warranty and Care

What does your warranty cover?

Every Made for You piece has a 5-year warranty. If anything goes wrong because of how we made it, such as a casting flaw, a finish problem or a stone loosened by a setting defect, we repair it free for five years, as long as it comes in for a free clean and check every six months (we'll text you a reminder when one is due). Ready Made pieces have a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Normal wear, accidents and damage aren't covered. See the Alloy Care Warranty for the details.

Alternative-metal and silicone bands (tungsten, titanium, cobalt, ceramic and others) are covered against manufacturing defects by their maker, and we handle the claim for you. They can't be resized.

Do you clean and check jewelry for free?

Yes, for life. Bring your piece in anytime for a free clean, polish and prong check. A check every six months keeps your warranty active, and small problems like a worn prong are easy to fix early.

What if a diamond falls out?

If a small side or band diamond falls out of its setting, we replace it free as long as your piece has been in for its regular checks. Center stones aren't covered by the warranty, so we recommend insuring your piece.

Is resizing included?

Your first resize is free, within a size or two. Eternity bands, with diamonds all the way around, usually can't be resized and are excepted.

Do I get an appraisal for insurance?

Yes. Every piece comes with an appraisal for your insurance, and a free re-polish whenever it needs one.

How do I look after my jewelry at home?

Take it off for heavy work, the gym and the pool, store pieces apart so they don't scratch each other, and clean them with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush.
